About Trails

Trails Church exists to glorify God by making disciples who love Jesus, love each other, and love our world because we believe anyone can be transformed by the story of Jesus.

Our Vision

We share our lives and the gospel with our neighbours so that they would believe in Jesus as their God, King, and Savior! The vision for Trails began when a few families were sent by a church in Vancouver in January 2020 to see a church planted in the southeast of Winnipeg. By God’s enabling grace, he established this local church, equipped with covenant church members, biblical leadership, and a passion for global gospel advancement.

However, from the start this vision was more than just to see one church planted. Our great aim is to be a church that plants more churches. Therefore, Trails desires to be a catalyst for church planting by training and sending church planting teams. In order to accomplish this, we partner with like-minded churches and ministries who share this vision. We pray that God will continue to use us to multiply his Church in Winnipeg, throughout Canada, and even into the nations!

Our Values

Since we believe anyone can be transformed by the story of Jesus, we leverage our lives to make disciples who make more disciples. As we hold tightly to the Bible’s clear teachings, we share our lives and the gospel in everyday, ordinary contexts and through the public ministry of the local church.

We exist to glorify God by enjoying him forever! And we do so in our obedience to him – that we love Jesus, love each other, and love our world. So then, how do we go about this task of ministry? Trails desires to be clear about our values and convictions. Therefore, we have stated our philosophy of ministry for the benefit of our church and for those who might partner with us.

Our Beliefs

Trails Church submits to God as he has revealed himself in his Word. The Bible is thus our final authority in everything we believe and do. We believe that the central message of the Scriptures is salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, for the glory of God alone.

Trails Church partners with the Canadian National Baptist Convention in church planting and missions. Alongside our brothers and sisters in the CNBC, we affirm The Baptist Faith & Message 2000 as our church’s statement of faith.

Our Elders

Trails Church believes that every local church should be led by a plurality of elders. These men are appointed to the office of elder based upon their Christian character and ministry competency, in keeping with the qualifications given in 1 Timothy 3 & Titus 1.

We also pursue a high degree of unity among our pastors and require a high standard of biblical fidelity. Therefore, we have determined that our elders must affirm additional statements alongside the BFM2K. All the elders of Trails Church affirm The Danvers Statement on gender, The Nashville Statement on marriage & sexuality, and The Chicago Statement on biblical inerrancy.

Further, in order to solidify the standard of sound doctrine we teach in our church, all of our pastors affirm The Bethlehem Affirmation of Faith. Though this is agreed upon by the elders of Trails, it is not required for our church members to affirm this doctrinal statement.
